Introduction to the use and maintenance of optical systems in fiber laser processing equipment

2020-06-01 14:25:41

The optical lens in the fiber laser system is a consumable. We always hope to use it as little as possible in order to extend the life of the laser and reduce the cost of using the lens.
During the replacement process, the placement, inspection, and installation of optical lenses require attention to avoid damage and contamination. When a new lens is installed, we need to clean it regularly. This process is actually quite simple. If the operation is correct, it will extend the life of the lens and reduce costs. On the contrary, it will reduce the service life.

When the laser cutting machine is working, the inevitable optical components contact the suspended matter. When the laser is used to cut, engrave and mark the material, a large amount of gas and dust will be released on the surface of the material, and these gases and dust will cause damage to the lens. When the contaminants fall on the lens surface, the contaminants absorb energy from the laser beam, causing the local temperature of the lens to rise, resulting in the thermal lens effect of the optical lens.

In the clockwise direction, the change of the focusing lens under the thermal lens effect is as follows:
If the lens has not developed thermal stress, the operator can disassemble and clean it. Of course, it is better to adopt a method that can avoid damage to the lens and further contamination.

Operating rules for installation and cleaning of optical lenses

In the process of installing and cleaning the lens, any sticky substance, even nail prints or oil drops, will increase the absorption rate of the lens, thereby reducing the service life. Therefore, the following precautions must be taken:
1) Do not use suction equipment or blowing equipment to avoid contamination of the lens;
2) When taking the lens, use both thumb and forefinger to pinch the two ends of the lens edge to pick up the lens;
3) The lens should be placed in a dry and tidy place for testing and cleaning. There should be several layers of cleaning paper towels or lens tissue on the surface of a good operating table;
4) The operator should avoid speaking above the lens, and keep food, drinks and other potential contaminants away from the working environment.

The correct method of cleaning lenses

The sole purpose of cleaning the lens is to remove the contaminants of the lens and avoid further contamination and damage to the lens. In order to achieve this goal, people often adopt relatively low-risk methods.

First use air balloons to blow off the floating objects on the surface of the lens, especially the lens with tiny particles and debris on the surface. This step is necessary. But do not use compressed air on the production line, because the air will contain oil and water droplets, which will increase the pollution of the lens.

In the second step, use absolute alcohol to lightly clean the lens. (It must be anhydrous alcohol, which can reduce the possibility of lens contamination.) Lens paper dipped in anhydrous alcohol must clean the lens under light and make a circular movement, starting from the center of the lens to the edge to wipe. Once the lens paper is dirty, it must be replaced immediately. Washing should be done at once to avoid scratching. Of course, some contaminants and lens damage cannot be removed by cleaning. For example, the film layer formed by dirt burns out, and the film is removed due to condensation or condensation. The only way to restore good performance is to replace the lens.

Laser cooling system settings

Water is 100% absorbed by the fiber laser, so when the laser exit lens and the beam expansion lens are condensed, the laser will cause lens breakdown and damage due to excessive heat absorption.
The temperature of the cooling water must change according to changes in ambient temperature and humidity.
First, use distilled water and use a closed-loop cooling system for cooling.
The ambient temperature of the laser should be controlled within the range of 5--40 ℃, and the air-conditioning system should be used when necessary. The ambient humidity must be <80%.

The cooling water temperature should be set as follows:

When the ambient temperature is between 10-35 ° C, the cooling water temperature should be equal to the ambient temperature;
When the ambient temperature is between 5-10 ℃, the cooling water temperature should be kept at 10 ℃;
When the ambient temperature is between 35--40 ° C, the cooling water temperature should be maintained at 35 ° C.
